Registered Nurse - Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

Unit Information

• Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) with 14 private beds (+6 overflow beds in PICU on same floor)
• Staff includes approximately 43 members
• Patient Ratios: 1:1 to 3:1
• Equipment used: GE Monitors, Avea ventilators, Medtronic/INVOS NIRS, Alaris pumps, Medfusion and Kangaroo feeding pumps
• Specialized equipment: ECMO (operated by perfusionists or ECMO specialists), CRRT (PrisMax and Prismaflex)
• EMR system: Meditech/Paper

Typical Procedures Performed

• Central line and arterial line insertion
• Chest tube insertion and removal
• Bronchoscopy
• Chest closure with OR team at bedside
• Emergent surgical procedures with OR team at bedside

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nevada
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) experience within the last year
• Experience working with Pediatric patients in PICU or Pediatric Intensive Care settings
• Certifications: BLS, PALS, ACLS

Preferred Qualifications

• Pediatric Cardiac experience

Work Schedule & Floating

• Weekend shifts:

  • Day shift: 4 weekend days per 4-week schedule
  • Night shift: 6 weekend nights (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) per 4-week schedule
• No on-call required
• Floating areas include PICU, NICU, Pediatrics, Pediatric ER, Mother-Baby Unit (Nursery), and other hospital units as needed
• Travel RNs are prioritized for floating to other units
