Med Surg Oncology RN

Overview

• 13-week contract in Fargo, North Dakota.
• Unit includes 6S with 16 inpatient oncology beds and 7S with 12 inpatient oncology beds focused more on hematology/bone marrow transplant.

Required Qualifications

• Active BLS certification through AHA.
• Active ND or Compact RN license, or willingness to obtain it.
• 2 years of recent nursing experience in a large hospital setting with 250+ beds.
• Experience in a busy level 1 trauma center.
• EPIC experience.

Preferred

• Travel experience.
• Inpatient oncology experience.
• Hematology experience.
• Bone marrow transplant experience.

Schedule

• Day/night rotating shifts.
• 12-hour shifts.
• Every other weekend and every other holiday.
• No call required.

Floating

• Floats to all med surg units/locations within Fargo as needed.
• May also float to other Med Surg units at Broadway and potentially to other Fargo Med Surg units at Med Center or South.

Unit Details

• Nurses care for medically complex hematology/oncology patients needing blood products, antibiotics, and symptom/side effect management.
• If trained to administer chemotherapy, the nurse could be assigned accordingly.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3 for patients receiving chemotherapy or BMT patients, 1:4-5 for regular oncology patients, and 1:4-6 on nights.
• Orientation includes 8 hours of classroom training followed by 24-36 hours of unit training.

Additional Notes

• Cannot take travelers living within 60 miles of the facility.
• Local travel rate applies to those living 60 to 80 miles from the facility.
• Clinicians must badge in and out.
• Navy blue scrubs are required.
