Contract

• 13 weeks
• 12-hour nights
• 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Active IL license or confirmation that application process has been initiated
• BLS
• Negative drug screen for all panels
• At least 2 solid years of CVICU experience
• Ability to interpret strips
• Ability to titrate drips
• Ability to float to every level of care
• Ability to take a full team

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS
• CCRN
• Prior travel experience with ICU assignments
• Experience with immediate post-op, VAD, and transplant patients

Unit Details

• CVICU
• 20 beds, all private and all monitored
• Nurse-to-patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:1, 1:2, or 2:1
• Patients include post open heart surgical patients, CABG, valves, CABG/Valve, dissections, AAA, vascular procedures, carotids, post cardiovascular procedures, STEMI, unstable angina, unstable N-STEMI, cardiogenic shock, cardiomyopathy, targeted temperature management, transcutaneous pacing, transvenous pacing, severe heart failure, TAVRs, cardiac-related events requiring ICU care, ventilated patients, overflow patients from other ICUs including COVID patients
• Specialty equipment includes IABPs, Impellas, Swan Ganz, ECMO, external pacemakers, and CRRT
• Lines used include PICC, midlines, CVC, Swans, and arterial lines
• Patients are connected to Philips monitoring
• Respiratory therapists are available 24/7
• Charge nurses and a house supervisor are available 24/7
• PCTs are available
• Shifts are 7a-7p or 7p-7a
• Every other weekend is required
• Every other holiday is required
• No call or standby requirement
• Scrubs must be appropriate; no specific color is required
• Unit-specific orientation is 1 day plus 2 days with a preceptor
