Job Opportunity: Echo Tech (Cardiac Sonographer)

Location: Parkersburg, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

• Role: Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer (Cost Center 130)
• Department: Echo/Cardiac Sonographer
• Work Areas: 2 scanning rooms and 1 holding area (3 total areas for scanning)
• Duties: Perform standard echocardiograms and transesophageal echocardiograms (TEEs)
• No floating or coverage of other areas required; focus solely on Echos & TEEs
• Average Studies: 15-20 studies per day

Certifications & Requirements

• BLS (American Heart Association) required
• Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Adult Echocardiography (RDCS-AE) via ARDMS required
• Additional certifications preferred: ARDMS Adult Echo (AE) and Pediatric Echo (PE) are a plus
• Must be able to perform standard and TEE exams
• Pediatric echo experience is highly desirable
• Unexpired driver’s license required
• Background checks must be disclosed at submission

Equipment & Systems

• EMR/PACS: EPIC and PACS systems used
• Department Equipment: Phillips ultrasound machines

Work Schedule & Shifts

• Typical shift: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM (start time may vary depending on first scheduled study)
• Shift length: 8 to 10 hours
• Call: On-call for stat echos evenings/nights every 3rd night
• Weekend call: Every 3rd Saturday on call weekend, also on call Sunday
• Scrubs provided

Additional Notes

• IV starts are performed by RN staff from the cath lab; sonographer teams up with RN for stress echo procedures
• No radiology assistants or radiologist in-house mentioned
• Manager of cath lab oversees the department (no direct radiology supervisor or lead tech)

This position is ideal for experienced Echo Techs with strong skills in adult and pediatric echocardiography, comfortable working in a busy echo department with call responsibilities.
