• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in Labor & Delivery and postpartum care
• Must have previous experience with laboring and postpartum patients

Unit Details

• L&D Beds: 5
• Postpartum Beds: 10
• Annual Births: Approximately 430 per year
• Staffing Ratios: AWHONN staffing ratios
• Common Patient Types: Laboring and postpartum patients, pediatrics, med-surg patients (including hysterectomy, mastectomy, cosmetic surgeries), and overflow med-surg patients
• Earliest gestation delivered: 32 weeks

Clinical Responsibilities

• Titration of drips allowed: insulin (laboring patients), magnesium, and Pitocin
• Use of programmed IV pumps for titratable/set rate drips
• Care for babies in PACU and perform fundal checks on moms in PACU
• Telemetry monitoring on unit
• Use of GE EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) system

Staffing & Support

• Charge nurse on every shift who also takes patient assignments
• 24/7 in-house nursing supervisor
• One Patient Care Technician (PCT) on night shift who can take blood sugars
• 24/7 in-house Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP)
• Variable in-house OB coverage
• 24/7 CRNA coverage for OB anesthesia
• Respiratory Therapist (RT) attends all C-section deliveries and administers treatments hospital-wide

Scheduling & Work Environment

• Shift hours: 7am to 7pm (12-hour shifts)
• Staff works every third weekend (day shift weekends: Saturday & Sunday; night shift weekends: Friday & Saturday)
• Holiday availability preferred for travelers
• Standby call varies with census; staff call rotation in place
• Floating to Med Surg units on a rotation basis
• Dress code: Navy blue or royal blue scrubs for RNs
• One week of unit/department orientation provided

• Candidates who worked permanently at this facility within the last 6 months are not eligible
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required

This position is ideal for experienced L&D nurses comfortable with laboring and postpartum care, who are flexible with scheduling and able to float to med-surg units as needed.
