Job Opportunity: LDRP RN (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum Registered Nurse)
Location: Williston, North Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced LDRP RN to provide nursing care in a Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum unit with 15 beds (7 L&D, 8 Postpartum). The nurse will float to Medsurg and ER as needed. This role involves no clinical involvement outside of nursing duties and requires critical thinking and the ability to read and interpret fetal heart rate strips.
Required Qualifications
- License: Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in North Dakota
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- Preferred: ACLS, NRP, STABLE
- Experience:
- Must be able to read and interpret fetal heart rate strips
- Prior travel experience required
- Skills:
- Critical thinking
- Ability to titrate drips (pitocin, insulin, magnesium)
- Adaptability and strong communication skills
Unit Details
- 15 total beds: 7 Labor & Delivery, 8 Postpartum
- 1 OR suite for C-sections on the unit
- Approximately 58 births per month
- Nurse-to-patient ratios:
- 1:1 for pitocin, magnesium, or insulin drips
- 1:3 for couplet care
- Common patient diagnoses: obstetric/neonatal care, hypertension, gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM)
- No OB/Neonatologist or anesthesia in-house 24/7
- Respiratory therapy equipment available; RNs troubleshoot but do not operate
- Telemetry monitors: Philips; EFM system: Traceview/PIP
- EMR system: Meditech
Work Schedule & Requirements
- Shifts: 06:45–19:15 and 18:45–07:15
- Block scheduling only; no self-scheduling
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend
- Holiday requirement: every other holiday
- Call/standby: depends on staffing
- Floating required to Medsurg, ER, or wherever needed in the hospital (permanent staff float first)
- Dress code: maroon scrubs provided, surgical scrubs worn on unit
- Orientation: 3 shifts of unit-specific orientation
Additional Notes
- Nurse aids and surgical techs assist with vitals, transfers, paperwork, and patient ambulation
- Charge nurse present on each shift and takes assignments
- Unit is locked; CNA remains at desk as needed
- Radius rule: candidates must live within 50 miles and cannot have worked full-time, part-time, or PRN with affiliated facilities in the past 12 months
This position is ideal for an LDRP RN with solid clinical skills, prior travel experience, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic hospital environment.
