Retail Pharmacist

Job Overview

• Contract role in Alturas, California
• 8-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday
• 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Valid Pharmacist license in California
• Pharmacist (3 years of experience)
• Pharmacist experience within the last year
• BLS
• Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.)

Key Responsibilities

• Compound and dispense prescribed medications and other pharmaceuticals
• Review prescriptions for accuracy and determine needed formulas and ingredients
• Direct pharmacy workers involved in mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals
• Counsel customers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage when counseling is accepted
• Maintain quality assurance, controlled substance security, and hazardous drug disposal procedures
• Enter patient, medication, and cost data to maintain pharmacy files, charge systems, and inventory
• Instruct interns and other pharmacy personnel and maintain required pharmacist-to-technician and pharmacist-to-intern ratios
• Resolve third-party rejection problems and report prescription errors promptly
• Support customer service programs and maintain relationships with physicians and other healthcare professionals
• Maximize sales, control expenses, and help ensure pharmacy policies remain current and consistent
