Location: Remote (within the U.S.)

Employment Type: Clinical - Remote
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM (flexible hours may include evenings and weekends as needed)
Contract Length: 52 weeks (1 year)
Job Summary
The Inpatient Clinical Documentation Integrity (ICDI) Specialist reviews inpatient and/or outpatient medical records to ensure accurate representation of severity of illness and proper coding. This role validates that coding reflects medical necessity and supports accurate reporting of patient illness severity, risk of mortality, and complexity of care. The specialist identifies documentation gaps, collaborates with physicians and healthcare staff, and serves as an educator to improve clinical documentation quality and completeness.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2 years as an Inpatient Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist, with at least the past 12 months in a production role.
- Education: High School diploma or GED required.
- Licenses/Certifications:
- Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP) or Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) certification required.
- One of the following licenses/certifications required:
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
- Certified Coding Specialist-Physician based (CCS-P)
- International or Domestic Medical Degree (MD)
Skills and Abilities
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present ideas to physicians, management, and healthcare team members.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently without close supervision.
- Ability to work well with others in a creative and challenging environment.
- Flexibility to work outside standard hours as needed to meet business demands.

- Prior travel experience is not required.
- This position is 100% remote and can be performed from anywhere within the U.S.
