Job Opportunity: RN - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Location: Louisville, Kentucky
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) is responsible for providing safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff and applies evidence-based practice within a Practice Governance framework. Key responsibilities include assessing patients, developing and implementing care plans, evaluating patient responses, providing education to patients and families, and mentoring/precepting staff.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform patient assessments and reassessments, making sound independent decisions.
  • Develop, prioritize, and implement individualized plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions.
  • Provide and coordinate education tailored to patient and family needs during the stay and at discharge.
  • Delegate tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel; serve as a mentor/preceptor.
  • Promote teamwork and identify opportunities for quality and safety improvements.
  • Participate in regulatory compliance and Practice Governance activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years acute care RN experience.
  • Valid RN license for the state of Kentucky.
