Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Location: Brooklyn, New York
Employment Type: Long Term
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night

Job Description

Care for patients in the Progressive Care Unit including:
- Stroke cases
- Patients with epilepsy
- Patients requiring telemetry monitoring
- Patients on high-risk drips and medications
Possibility to float to Progressive Medical Care Unit (PMCU) or Emergency Department (ED) Holding
Schedule includes every other weekend with no holiday shifts

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York
Minimum 5 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Additional Information

This is a night shift position
Candidates must be comfortable managing high-acuity patients requiring telemetry and complex medication management

Pros

Staff in the OR is amazing, their personalities are great and they really help/are traveler friendly. Lots of autonomy just get your cases done.

Cons

They do work travelers, always in a room -which is to be expected. One of the managers is hot/cold and is constantly late to renew contracts so you don’t know if you’re being resigned until the end!
