Job Description

As a Radiation Therapist, you will administer radiation therapy treatments and simulations according to the instructions of the radiation oncologist. Responsibilities include:

• Maintaining adherence to administrative and departmental policies.
• Managing patient schedules and ensuring timely appointments.
• Explaining procedures to patients and assessing their needs.
• Preparing treatment rooms and equipment, ensuring a safe environment.
• Reporting any variations in treatment or equipment issues.
• Observing radiation safety measures.
• Documenting and maintaining accurate records.

Requirements

Education/Skills

• Graduate of an AMA approved School of Radiation Therapy Technology.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Experience

• Preferred: Minimum of one year in a hospital or treatment center environment.
• New graduates from an AMA approved program are also considered.

Licenses/Certifications

• ARRT, RT (R) certification required; must be registered or registry eligible within the first year of employment.
• Current Medical Radiologic Technologist certificate with the Texas Medical Board (new grads must have started the application before hire).
• Current BLS certification.

Additional Information

• Must maintain current licensure/registration/certification and provide documentation to the hospital.
