Registered Nurse – Emergency Department

Job Summary

Provide direct patient care in a busy urban Emergency Department (ED) that is a Level 1 Trauma, Stroke, STEMI, and regional burn center. Responsibilities include patient assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, coordinating care with ancillary departments, and maintaining patient rights and confidentiality. Work within the scope of nursing practice and applicable state regulations.

Work Schedule

• Shift: Days, 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM
• Weekly guaranteed hours: 36 or 48 (must be specified on submission)
• Weekend hours as required by the facility
• No call requirements
• Block schedules are not accommodated
• Holiday time off requests limited to one per assignment

• Department: Emergency Department
• Number of beds: 68
• Patient ratio: Typically 4:1 (may vary during surges)
• Electronic Medical Record system: EPIC

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
• Certifications:

  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • ACLS
  • PALS
  • TNCC
  • NIHSS
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Valid Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with trauma and pediatric patients
• High acuity experience with 200+ patients per day preferred

• Strong clinical expertise in emergency nursing
• Demonstrated skill in human relations and communication
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
• Personality traits: determined, decisive, flexible

Physical and Working Conditions

• Stand and walk most of the shift
• Lift and push patients on stretchers and wheelchairs
• Work primarily in a clean, air-conditioned environment
• Physical demands include pushing, pulling, gripping up to 50 lbs, pinching up to 15 lbs, minimal kneeling, crouching, and crawling

Additional Requirements

• Flu vaccination or approved exemption required from November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
