Registered Nurse (Med Surg/Telemetry)

Job Description

A regional hospital in the White Mountains of Arizona is seeking a Med Surg/Telemetry travel nurse. This role offers the opportunity to work in a scenic area with access to outdoor activities and nearby cities.

• Unit: 24-bed Med Surg with Telemetry capability on all beds (heavy focus on Telemetry)
• Patient population: Adults only (pediatrics assigned to permanent staff)
• Float to all Med Surg units and ICU (Med Surg overflow patients)
• Nurse-to-patient ratios:

  • 1:5 during day shifts
  • 1:6 during night shifts
• Support staff includes Telemetry techs, charge nurse, HUCs, and PCTs
• Hospitalist coverage 24/7
• Respiratory Therapist and Pharmacy available 24/7
• No IV team on unit
• EMR system: Sunrise Allscripts
• Shift length: 12 hours (night shifts start at 6 PM)
• 36-hour guarantee with up to 3 cancellations allowed
• Scrub color: any color except all black; scrubs not provided

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Arizona
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Certifications required:

  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • NIHSS
• Strong neuro skills

Additional Information

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
• Nurses do not care for pediatric patients on this unit.
• Nurse managers do not provide direct patient care but perform rounds.
