Respiratory Therapist - West Virginia (Princeton)
Job Overview
Seeking a Licensed Respiratory Therapist with a minimum of 3 years of experience to work in a community hospital setting. The role involves working across a variety of inpatient units including adult, pediatric, and neonatal care areas.
Location
- City: Princeton, West Virginia
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 3 years of Respiratory Therapy experience (higher requirement confirmed)
- Experience in ER, ICU, and inpatient adult care required
- Pediatric experience preferred; training available for pediatric care
- Must have experience with:
- Ventilator management (including infant vents/CPAP)
- Arterial Blood Gases (ABG) drawing and analysis
- BiPAP
- Resuscitation
- EKG (both inpatient and outpatient)
- Assist with intubation (not required to intubate independently)
- Ability to perform breathing treatments, manage multiple ventilators (up to 8-9 in ICU), and place arterial lines (for core RTs)
- Comfortable working with a high volume of treatments (40-70 treatments per therapist per day)
Certifications & Licenses
- Licensed Respiratory Therapist required
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) via NBRC required; Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred
- ACLS and BLS (AHA) certifications required
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) and PALS preferred
- STABLE certification preferred
- Must have an unexpired driver’s license and be within a 100-mile radius for submission
Work Environment & Schedule
- Facility has 127 inpatient beds
- Department staffing: 7 RTs during the day, 5 RTs at night
- Coverage includes all inpatient areas, Emergency Department, inpatient and outpatient EKGs, and outpatient bronchoscopies
- Sleep Lab, Pulmonary, and Cardiac Rehab areas are not covered by travelers
- Shifts:
- Day: 06:45 - 19:15
- Night: 18:45 - 07:15
- Set schedules made 4 weeks in advance by management
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend (option to work only weekends may be considered)
- Holiday requirement: work scheduled holidays (Christmas and New Year’s)
- No call or standby call required
- Floating only within the facility
Equipment Used
- Puritan Bennett 840 ventilators
- Hamilton C1 ventilators (invasive, non-invasive, high flow)
- Avea ventilators
- BiPAP V60
- Vapotherm for high flow oxygen therapy
Orientation & Training
- Day 1: General orientation
- Day 2: Classroom orientation and modules
- Followed by approximately 3 days of shadowing with a preceptor
- All travelers start on inpatient units and may expand to other areas
Additional Information
- Facility will conduct a second interview and assess skills on-site to assign appropriate duties
- Professional appearance required: any color scrubs, no long nails, men must be clean-shaven
- Lead therapist or supervisor available for support and questions
- No requirement to transport critical care patients outside the facility
