Job Summary: Medsurg RN (North Dakota)

Location: Williston, North Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Details

• Department: Medsurg RN
• Number of Beds: 20
• Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:5-6
• Common Patient Diagnoses: CHF, Sepsis, CIWA, Shortness of Breath, Chest Pain
• Shift Hours: 7 AM - 7 PM / 7 PM - 7 AM (Day/Night rotation, mostly nights)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or 3 out of 6 weekends, depending on unit needs
• Holiday Requirement: As per unit needs
• Scheduling: No self-scheduling; block scheduling may be possible depending on unit needs
• Floating: May float to ER, OB, ICU as helping hands; may take patient assignments in ICU if patient is ready to downgrade
• Orientation: 2-3 shifts of unit/department specific orientation

Required Experience & Skills

• 1-2 years Med Surg nursing experience required
• Previous travel experience recommended but not required
• RNs are required to titrate drips (common drip: Heparin)
• Familiarity with respiratory equipment (CPAP, High Flow) beneficial; RT not in-house at night
• Charge Nurse present on each shift and takes patient assignments, especially nights
• Nurse Aids/Patient Care Techs: 1 CNA per shift; may be on call or floated if census is low

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Additional Information

• No clinical involvement outside of Med Surg nursing scope
• Scrub Color: Caribbean Blue
• Radius Rule: Candidates must live within 50 miles and cannot have worked full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI and Dignity) within the past 12 months
• Return to Office (RTO) needed upfront; no additional RTO approvals after submission

This position offers a structured schedule with a focus on Med Surg nursing in a small 20-bed unit, requiring strong clinical skills in patient care, drip titration, and familiarity with respiratory support equipment.
