Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Self-scheduling, with manager balancing
• Every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• Typically 2 of 3 winter holidays, otherwise every other holiday
• No call requirement

Unit Details

• 28 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratios:

  • Days: 1:4-5
  • Nights: 1:5-6, depending on acuity
• Charge nurse takes an assignment
• Nurse aides on the unit
• Central monitor located in a different area
• Floating to sister MS units, including mixed care, cardiac, general, MS ortho, and heme/onc

Required Qualifications

• BLS
• NIHSS
• 2 years of MS, PCU, or ICU experience
• Experience in the setting within the last 1 year
• Drip experience
• Must be willing to learn vents
• Must have worked for the facility before only if the prior assignment ended at least 6 months before submission

Preferred Qualifications

• Home trach vents experience

Clinical Focus

• Neuro-focused patients, including strokes, seizure, Guillain Barre, Myasthenia gravis, spinal injuries, thrombectomies, TNK/TPA 24 hours post, endovascular neuro specialties, AMS, and dementia
• Trauma ortho injuries, including hematomas and bleeds, falls on thinners, and farm and MVA accidents
• Trachs and vents are key on this unit
• RT equipment includes vents, trachs, CPAP, BiPAP, Vapotherm, and ETCO2

Additional Notes

• Open to first-time travelers
• RNs are required to titrate drips
• Common drips include heparin, nitro, diltiazem, amiodarone, 3%, and insulin
• Any solid color scrubs
• Unit orientation includes 1 shift of general orientation and 1 shift with a preceptor
• Clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
• Local candidates within 80 miles are subject to reduced client rates
