Schedule

• 12-hour evening shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend
• No floating

Required Qualifications

• Active California RN license
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification
• PALS certification
• 2+ years of ER experience
• Level III trauma experience or higher preferred
• COVID vaccination required

Unit Details

• 15-bed ER with a 6-bed fast track
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4, depending on acuity
• Charge nurse may take a small patient load if needed
• Unit secretary available 24/7; tech coverage for 20 hours per day
• One physician is on site at all times, with mid-level coverage usually from 9am to 2am
• RT and pharmacy are available 24/7
• No IV team
• Vents are managed on the unit

Patient Population

• Sees a broad ER mix including stroke, abdominal pain, orthopedic injuries, and psychiatric patients
• High pediatric volume

Orientation

• 2–3 days on the unit

Additional Notes

• Schedules are made 30–45 days in advance
• Holidays are worked into the permanent staff rotation
