Contract

• 13 weeks
• 36 hours per week
• 12-hour night shifts

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS certification

Experience / Skills

• Post-op care of patients
• Critical thinking skills
• Ability to ask for help when needed
• Good bedside manner
• Team-player mindset

Unit Details

• Surgical acute inpatient unit
• Common patient types include post-op surgical, trauma, overflow medical, dressing changes, wound care, IV therapy, pain management, drains, NG tubes, central lines, and TPN
• No vents on the unit
• Some patients are on telemetry
• RN does not read telemetry strips
• RN may manage inhalers and place patients on CPAP
• Heparin is the only listed titratable drip

Schedule

• Every other weekend required
• Rotating every other holiday
• Travelers do not self-schedule
• Block scheduling may be considered if approved at the time of contract

Floating

• Travelers are first to float
• Floating is to units with the same level of experience
• If an ICU RN floats to a general unit, they take a team of 3 patients

Orientation

• 2 shifts with a preceptor
• 1 additional 12-hour shift for EPIC and professional orientation with the unit educator

Other Notes

• Any scrub color is allowed
• Local placements within 50 miles are accepted
• Drug screen required
• Submission requires the last four digits of SSN, middle initial, and requested time off
