Location

• Renton, Washington

Contract Length

• 18 weeks

Shift

• Nights, 12-hour shifts

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• BLS certification
• NIHSS certification
• At least 2 years of experience in the specialty
• No license hits related to diverting medications or endangerment

Unit Details

• 38 beds, with capacity up to 42
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4-5 on days and nights
• Tele monitoring is used; nurses are not required to read strips but must recognize lethal rhythms and respond appropriately
• Common patient types include general surgery, appendectomies, fractures, GI, gynecology, and vascular cases
• Heparin is used per protocol

Schedule

• 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• No holiday requirement
• No call time; standby may be assigned if scheduled and not needed

Floating

• Travelers are first to float
• May float to other surgical units, other MedSurg units, the ED for holds, or rarely to a COVID medical unit for team nursing

Orientation

• 3 days total: general orientation, then one day on General Surgery and one day on Ortho Spine

Additional Notes

• Must be able to respond appropriately to lethal rhythms
• Scrubs: Royal Blue
