Overview

• Travel assignment in California
• 13 weeks
• Days, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
• Unit: Tele - 4West
• 22 beds
• Ratios: 1:3-4

Required Qualifications

• 2-3 years of specialty experience
• Active BLS
• Active ACLS
• Active NIHSS
• Active California RN license

Preferred

• Open to first-time travelers

Unit Details

• Common patient types: Stroke, TIA, Seizure, TBI, mixed Med Tele
• Nurses must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Nurses require passing a dysrhythmia exam
• No RN drip titration required
• Common drips: Heparin gtt, Amiodarone ftt, Cardizem gtt, DKA set rate or protocol
• Telemetry monitoring is centralized with 2 Monitor Techs
• 1-2 Unit Aides
• RT support/equipment includes Bipap, Cpap, and HFNC; no vents

Schedule and Logistics

• Schedules are made about 3 weeks in advance
• Self-scheduling by seniority
• Shift trades available
• No block scheduling
• Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule
• Holidays are worked into the permanent staff rotation
• No call or standby requirement
• Floating: IMCU (2West) or Med/Surg Departments
• Navy scrubs
• 1 shift of unit orientation
