MRI Technologist - Charlotte, NC
Job Summary
The MRI Technologist is responsible for patient safety and performing high-quality MRI studies. This role includes effective communication with radiologists and customers, troubleshooting imaging equipment, and occasionally training new technologists or patient coordinators.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate MRI and related imaging equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images, including advanced studies.
- Interview patients to explain MRI procedures and address concerns with tact and courtesy.
- Ensure patient safety through pre-screening for contraindications and aseptic injection techniques.
- Communicate effectively with radiologists and other customers.
- Train new technologists and patient coordinators, providing guidance and quality checks.
- Troubleshoot MRI scanners and peripheral equipment to prevent downtime; escalate complex issues as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- ARRT (MR) certification required.
- BLS CPR Certification through the American Heart Association required.
- Valid state driver’s license and state license as applicable.
- Minimum of 1 year of MRI experience in high-volume environments preferred.
- Technical proficiency with GE 1.5T or other vendor MRI scanners.
- Ability to independently perform advanced MRI studies.
- Strong patient care skills with the ability to explain complex medical information clearly.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage customer interactions effectively.
- Local travel may be required.
