Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Department (Contract)

Job Summary

Provide safe, competent, and quality nursing care to emergency department patients using evidence-based practices and nursing theory. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans, prioritize patient needs, and educate patients and caregivers. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with institutional standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver patient care based on Relationship Centered Care and nursing process.
  • Assess and evaluate patient care needs using critical thinking.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team to develop, implement, and evaluate care plans.
  • Prioritize patient care including teaching, rounding, coaching, and discharge planning.
  • Educate patients and families on care plans, health promotion, and disease prevention.
  • Communicate professionally with patients, families, and care team members.
  • Manage assignments within Modified Primary Nursing care delivery model.
  • Perform charge nurse duties as assigned.
  • Coordinate supply and staffing resources; escalate deficits as needed.
  • Document nursing care accurately and thoroughly.
  • Facilitate patient throughput during shifts.
  • Engage in professional development and contribute to nursing practice improvement.
  • Participate in shared decision-making through specialty councils and committees.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience.
  • Emergency Department experience within the last year.
  • Experience working with pediatric patients.
  • Pediatric Emergency Room (ER) experience.

Shift

  • 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM

Contract Length

  • Approximately 13 weeks (89 days)

This position is ideal for experienced Emergency Department RNs with pediatric experience seeking a contract role in New York City.
