Registered Dietician

Location: Bronx, New York
Employment Type: Acute - Allied
Contract Length: 14 weeks

Job Summary

• Monitor patients for and provide education on food/drug interactions.
• Record food and drug interactions in the education section.
• Consult with physicians regarding appropriate diet modification.

Job Responsibilities

• Screen and assess patients accurately and timely based on levels of care.
• Determine patients' nutritional needs and status and provide follow-up care.
• Interview patients and/or their families to obtain history of food habits and preferences.
• Interpret pertinent laboratory, physical, and social data in the medical record as it applies to nutrition care.
• Provide nutrition education and document patient's diet, diet instructions, and patient's understanding of the diet.
• Modify patient menus as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist within the last year.
• Registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian (Primary Source Verification required).
• For Acute care settings only.

Additional Notes

• For Dietitians assigned to Post-Acute Care (Long-Term Care) facilities, New York State Certification as a “Dietitian-Nutritionist” issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) is required at the time of hire (not applicable for this acute role).
