Cardiovascular Radiology Technologist

Location: Cincinnati, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift:

  • 4x10 hour shifts, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
  • On-call coverage: Weekday call from 5:00 PM – 7:00 AM, weekend call from 7:00 AM Saturday – 7:00 AM Monday
  • Call shifts require a 30-minute response time for emergency cases

Job Summary

Provide continuous, comprehensive care to adult and geriatric patients undergoing invasive cardiology and peripheral angiography procedures. Perform angiographic procedures and assist in diagnostic/interventional cath lab and angiography cases, ensuring optimal image quality and patient safety.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assess patients and recognize/report abnormal signs or changes to physicians and charge nurses
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members using appropriate handoff methods
  • Perform safety risk assessments and implement safety initiatives
  • Provide individualized patient and family education in coordination with the multidisciplinary team
  • Respond skillfully to emergency situations
  • Maintain sterile technique as a scrub assistant during procedures
  • Set up sterile trays and specialized equipment for procedures
  • Manage hemostasis post-procedure using compression or closure devices
  • Maintain competency in arterial and venous sheath removal and groin management
  • Follow radiation safety policies, including use of protective equipment and dosimetry badges
  • Screen females of childbearing age for possible pregnancy

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Cath Lab Radiology Technologist, including experience within the last year
  • Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Experience as a Cardiovascular Technologist
  • Experience as a Cath Lab Technologist

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in peripheral vascular and structural heart procedures
  • Experience in larger value hospitals
  • ACLS preferred but not required at time of hire

Work Environment

  • Adult and geriatric invasive cardiology and peripheral angiography patients
  • Cath lab and angiography suite
  • Requires ability to respond quickly during emergency situations
  • Exposure to radiation with strict adherence to safety protocols

Additional Information

  • High level of professionalism and ability to establish good relationships with patients, staff, and physicians is essential
  • Must meet individual education and training requirements throughout employment
