Location: Louisville, Kentucky
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (6:30 AM – 5:00 PM)
Hours: 10 hours per day, 40 hours per week, with call up to 40 hours on a 6-week schedule
Job Summary
The Surgical Tech assists the healthcare team during the intra-operative period by preparing and handling surgical instruments and equipment, and assisting the surgeon throughout procedures. This role requires knowledge of aseptic technique, medical terminology, and the metric system, with the ability to respond immediately in urgent or emergency situations. The patient population ranges from neonate through geriatric.
Responsibilities
- Maintain aseptic technique during surgical duties to ensure positive patient outcomes.
- Care for, prepare, handle, and maintain surgical instrumentation.
- Perform sponge, sharps, and instrument counts consistently according to policy.
- Adhere to professional standards of practice.
- Effectively prioritize, plan, and problem-solve during changing surgical situations.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with a minimum of 2 years of experience, including experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- High School Diploma or GED
- Proficient in surgical technology
- Knowledge and application of aseptic technique
