Job Summary

• Provides direct patient care on the unit, including nursing rounds, assessments, treatments, admission/transfer/discharge activities, patient and family education, and care coordination.

Required Qualifications

• RN license
• Performs comprehensive assessments within RN scope of practice and hospital policies/procedures
• Uses nursing process, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making in patient care
• Delegates appropriately and oversees team members in patient care activities

Responsibilities

• Assesses patient needs and documents findings
• Develops prioritized problem lists and care plans
• Implements patient care therapies and procedures within scope of practice
• Communicates changes in patient condition
• Conducts ongoing assessments and documents responses to care
• Facilitates discharge planning and discharge teaching
• Participates in unit-based activities and quality improvement efforts
