Performs patient transfers with assistance as needed.
Uses safe body mechanics to reduce injury risk.
Designs and adjusts plans of care based on patient response and evidence.
Educates patients, families, caregivers, students, and other health care providers.
Performs patient examinations and screening to determine need for therapy services.
Uses support personnel according to legal and ethical standards and monitors their care.
Documents evaluations, plans of care, treatment modifications, and patient response.
Implements functional intervention plans and modifies approach based on patient behavior and performance.
Uses standardized outcomes measures.
Collaborates with patients, families, and significant others throughout rehabilitation.
Provides supervision to COTA and rehabilitation technicians.
Communicates patient performance, transfer recommendations, discharge recommendations, and equipment needs to the medical team.
