Job Opportunity: Wound Ostomy Nurse (RN)

Location: Newport Beach, California
Employment Type: Local Contract (Clinical Nursing)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Serve as the clinical resource for patients and staff regarding ostomy, continence disorders, acute and chronic wounds, skin breakdown, and fistulae.
• Provide direct wound and ostomy care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Educate patients and families on wound and ostomy management pre- and post-operatively.
• Assist healthcare team with evaluation of skin and wound products and equipment.
• Deliver educational programs, in-services, and bedside teaching for nursing staff.
• Stay current with advances in wound and skin care assessments, treatments, and prevention.
• Assess patients with pressure injuries staged at 3 or above.
• Manage hospital-acquired pressure injury (HAPI) cases and reporting.
• Evaluate hospital practices to reduce HAPIs.

Required Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum of 4 years of wound care experience, including experience within the last year.

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Certifications & Licensure

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
• Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON).
• Wound Ostomy Certification.
