Sterile Processing Production Coordinator

Location: Elmhurst, Illinois

Job Summary

Serve as the point person for managing all incoming and outgoing loaner and consignment trays, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and proper processing.

Key Responsibilities

• Verify accuracy, completeness, and integrity of tray contents before and after sterilization.
• Coordinate with vendors, clinical partners, and internal SPD teams to ensure instruments arrive on time, are processed correctly, and ready for use.
• Track and document tray movement through the full sterilization and return cycle.
• Oversee daily production flow in coordination with SPD leadership to prioritize and balance workloads for maximum efficiency.
• Identify and resolve potential delays, discrepancies, or bottlenecks.
• Maintain communication with technicians and leadership to align production goals with operational needs.
• Provide guidance or oversight to Production Technicians as the team grows, establishing standards for performance and accountability.
• Act as liaison between vendors, clinical teams, and SPD staff to ensure clarity and trust.
• Maintain communication with partner hospitals and surgery centers regarding tray status and delivery schedules.
• Ensure accurate and timely data entry into tracking systems, including sterilization records and performance metrics.
• Generate reports summarizing activity, volume trends, and areas for improvement.
• Uphold documentation standards supporting regulatory compliance and operational excellence.

Required Skills & Experience

• 3 to 5 years of hands-on Sterile Processing Department (SPD) experience, with strong focus on loaner and consignment tray management.
• Proven ability to coordinate across departments, vendors, and leadership teams.
• Strong attention to detail and methodical tracking and organization skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfortable interfacing with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proficiency with instrument tracking software and reporting tools.
• Positive, proactive mindset with commitment to quality and accuracy.

Education & Certification

• Required Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Required Certification: CRCST or CSPDT certification.
