Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular Pediatric Intensive Care Unit

Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours guaranteed (except orientation week and holidays)
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
On Call/Call Back: None
Primary Unit: Pediatric Cardiac ICU (24-bed unit caring for neonates, infants, and adult congenital patients)
Float Requirement: May float to NICU and PICU as needed
Electronic Medical Record: Epic

Job Description

• Provide nursing care for high acuity cardiac and cardiovascular surgery patients, including those with open heart surgery, heart transplants, and open chests.
• Care for hemodynamically compromised patients and those with impending respiratory failure.
• Coordinate and manage patient care for patients and families using critical thinking and cardiac assessments.
• Work in a Level I Trauma environment (experience preferred).

Required Qualifications

• Current Wisconsin RN license or Compact RN license.
• AHA BLS and AHA PALS certifications required; AHA ACLS preferred but not mandatory.
• Minimum 12 to 18 months of independent nursing experience in a high acuity cardiac PICU setting.
• Flu vaccine required or willingness to obtain.

Additional Information

• Education: ASN or BSN required; BSN preferred.
• Dress Code: Any professional scrubs.
• Jewelry Policy: One small nose stud allowed; no other visible piercings except ear piercings. Flesh-colored or clear piercing plugs permitted.
• Orientation week hours may not be guaranteed.
• No prior travel experience explicitly required.
