Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) for day shifts. The unit accepts first-time travelers.

Required Experience

• Minimum 1 year of specialty experience in Operating Room nursing.
• Prior travel experience not required.

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in New Jersey.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required).
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (preferred).

Additional certifications may be required as applicable:

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
• Chemotherapy certification
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
• NIH Stroke Certification
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI)

• Bilateral tubal ligation
• Anterior cervical fusion
• Craniotomy
• Laminectomy
• Lumbar fusion
• Cataract extraction
• Eye trauma and glaucoma surgery

• Total joint replacement

Documentation & Systems

• Experience with EPIC documentation system.

Travel Radius

• Willingness to travel within a 50-mile radius.

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months of start.
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually.
• Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year.
• Required immunizations or positive titers for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season.
• COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption.

Background & Verification

• 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually.
• Education verification required.
• Work history verification for 7 years, with NJ state-specific mandates for minimum 1 year verified prior to start.
• Driver’s license or state ID required.
• E-Verify and other federal background checks required upon hire.

• Unit accepts first-time travelers (no prior travel experience required).
• Various competency exams and safety manual acknowledgments required as applicable.
• Clear headshot photo required for badge.

This position is ideal for an OR RN with at least 1 year of experience looking for a travel contract in New Jersey with a variety of surgical procedure exposure and EPIC documentation experience.
