Job Opportunity: CVICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Job Details

• Unit: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
• Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Call Requirements: None
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend during the 6-week assignment
• Floating: May float between CVICU and MICU; potential to float to other nearby hospitals if both units are staffed
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
• Minimum of 4 years of CVICU experience, with CVICU experience within the last year
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Special Requirements

• Ability to care for interventional neurocritical care and cardiovascular critical care patients
• Must be able to float between CVICU and MICU as needed

Required Compliance & Documentation

• Government-issued photo ID
• Background checks including SS Trace, County searches (last 7 years), Nationwide, Sex Offender registry
• Annual EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Physical exam within 1 year, signed by a physician
• Fit mask test within 12 months of start (specific mask models required)
• Immunizations and titers:

  • Tdap within 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccine series or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B titer required (declination or booster acceptable for low titer)
  • Varicella vaccine series or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Dec 8 - Mar 31), no declinations accepted except medical/religious exemptions
• Drug testing: 10-panel within 30 days of start
• Vision testing: Snellen and Ishihara color vision within 1 year
• Pass/fail EKG and medication competency exams required upon arrival
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam must be passed prior to start
• Acknowledgement of pass/fail testing required for RNs (except OR or ISCU RNs)
• 2 professional references required

This position is ideal for experienced CVICU RNs with prior travel contract experience who are comfortable working night shifts and floating between critical care units.
