Job Opportunity: Speech-Language Pathologist (Travel/Contract)

Job Description

• Provide care for patients in an acute care setting using independent judgment and evidence-based practice.
• Assess and treat various diagnoses.
• Maintain clinical competency and participate in continuing education as required by regulatory and accrediting agencies.
• Participate in departmental programs, activities, and initiatives.
• May supervise students when available.
• Coordinate care with other disciplines as appropriate.
• Adhere to ethical principles and department processes including productivity standards and prioritization of care.

Schedule

• Monday to Friday plus 2 additional days during the week (no 4x10 shifts).
• Average daily census: 28 patients.
• Approximately 8 patient visits per day.
• Weekend shifts vary; expect about one weekend per month.

Required Certifications and Licenses

• CCC-SLP (Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology)
• Maryland State License (pending license acceptable)
• Preferred: FEES certification (Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing)

Required Skills

• Acute Care experience required.
• Preferred: ASHA membership or affiliation.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of experience in Speech-Language Pathology preferred but open to candidates with 1+ year depending on experience.

Additional Information

• Patient ratio: 1:1
• First-time travelers are not accepted (prior travel experience required).
• Return to Office (RTO) requests: 2 allowed.
• Scrubs color: Caribbean Blue or Lavender.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Proof of I9 or attestation.
• Copy of Driver’s License/State ID (must match state of compact license if applicable).
• Proof of E-Verify or attestation.
• Background checks including 7-year criminal check, SS trace, counties, nationwide, sex offender, and FACIS level 3.
• Annual EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start.
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, updated annually.
• Tdap vaccine within 10 years of start.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start (with specific requirements for PPD tests).
• Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year of start.
• Flu vaccine required (no declinations accepted) for 2025-26 season.
• Proof of 2 clinical references.
• Skills checklist and performance evaluations as applicable.

Notes

• Prior travel experience is required; first-time travelers will not be considered.
• Candidates must adhere to all facility and state-specific requirements, including fingerprinting for school placements if applicable.
• NIH Stroke Certification is required for all units except Pediatrics, OB, and Labor & Delivery; can be obtained onsite if needed.

This position is ideal for experienced Speech-Language Pathologists with acute care skills and prior travel contract experience seeking a 13-week travel assignment in Maryland.
