Job Description

  • Shift Length: 36 or 48 hours contracts
  • Floating: Required to float within MS/Tele, PCU, and lower acuity settings within skillset; float to ED (ED ratios 1:5, possible 1:6)
  • Patient Ratios: 1:5 (possible 1:6)
  • Years of Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty
  • First-time Travelers: Accepted
  • Weekend Requirement: 2 weekends per 4-week schedule (may vary by unit)
  • Certifications Required: ACLS, BCLS, NIH Stroke Certification
  • On-call: Not required
  • Pending License: Accepted (NM license can pend at time of submission)
  • Locals: Not accepted within 75 miles
  • COVID Vaccination: Required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with completed exemption form
  • Special Skills: IV starts, Telemetry
  • Guaranteed Hours: Contracted hours (36/48/40 per week); facility may call off up to 3 times during a 13-week assignment
  • Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Absences greater than 10 days require approval

Required Certifications & Competencies

  • ACLS (AHA or ARC; RQI not accepted)
  • BLS (AHA or ARC; RQI not accepted)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (any vendor acceptable)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Relias Basic Dysrhythmia Exam (pass with 80% overall and 100% on Lethal Arrhythmia section)
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum 80% score)
  • Competency Exam (minimum 80% score)
  • Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, CPI, MOAB for Behavioral Health)

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within one year of start
  • Education verification or diploma/transcript if 3rd party verification unavailable
  • Fingerprinting required onsite during orientation (NM Department of Health clearance)
  • Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Drug screen negative within 30 days of start (instant drug screens not accepted)
  • Annual TB questionnaire required
  • Flu vaccine required year-round with exemptions accepted
  • COVID vaccination no longer required but reporting still in place
  • Two professional references within three years of hire
  • Skills checklist and work history verification required (minimum 3 years work history verified)

Additional Notes

  • Valid non-local driver’s license required (ID cards not accepted)
  • Location is not near public transportation; transportation approval may be required
  • Orientation includes Cerner training attestation (test-out option available)
  • Facility operates at over 100% capacity
  • No on-call requirement
  • Floating expected to meet facility needs within scope of practice
