Shift and Hours
- Evening shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM)
- 40 hours per week
Requirements/Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician
- Sterile Processing Technician experience within the last year
- At least one completed travel assignment
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
- Experience working with Level 2 Trauma patients
Required Certifications and Licenses
- CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution)
- IAHCSMM or HSPA certification (Sterile Processing certifications)
Special Equipment Experience
- Steam Sterilizer
- Washer Disinfector
- VPR Low temperature sterilization
- Medivator (Scope processing)
- Scope Buddy
- Cart Washer
Work Requirements
- Holidays: Required as scheduled
- Weekends: Required as scheduled
- Floating: May be required within the specialty, other units, and sister facilities within scope
- On-call: Not required
Required Documentation and Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- I9 attestation and E-Verify compliance
- Background check including 7-year criminal search, SSN trace, nationwide and sex offender checks, education verification, and state-specific exclusions
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start (not required for Sterile Processing Techs)
- Immunizations and titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella (positive titer or vaccination proof required)
- TB testing: Negative QGOLD or TSPOT within 1 year or True 2-Step PPD; must be updated annually
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required for the 2025-26 season (agency exemption accepted)
- Two supervisory references within 1 year of start
- Employment application/resume completed within 30 days of start
- Verification of previous 5 years of employment history
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Uniform: Navy blue scrubs; pink scrubs for trauma assignments; pediatric department allows child-friendly tops with navy blue pants; white short sleeves or navy long sleeves under scrubs; business casual for certain departments (no jeans, no open-toe shoes, no sleeveless tops, no shorts)
- Passport-style photo with solid white or beige background for badge
- Confidentiality agreement must be signed prior to start
- Dress code review required before start
- Latex allergy questionnaire must be completed by all candidates
- Security ID application must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract
Competency Exams (as applicable)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
- Color blind testing (not required for non-clinical)
- General competency exam
- Age-specific competency exam
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (not required for OR candidates)
This position requires a skilled Sterile Processing Tech with trauma experience, appropriate certifications, and compliance with extensive health and background documentation. The role involves evening shifts with holiday and weekend work as scheduled, and may require floating within related units.
