Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
• Call Requirements: None
• Time Off (RTO): Up to 5 days max; no more than 2 consecutive days; no RTO on holidays, weekends, or the day before/after a holiday
• Floating: Mandatory floating within scope as needed, including mid-shift float

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
• Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Required Documents & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID)
• Background check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years; updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD; updated annually
• Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months; updated annually (PPD not accepted after 12/15/2025)
• Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination within 12 months
• Immunizations or titers for Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Hepatitis B (or signed declination)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (Oct 1 – May 4); declinations not accepted
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start; testing initiated within 48 hours of signed contract
• Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year; annual requirement; onsite PAPR use allowed with approved exemption
• Completion of PromisePoint EMR training modules prior to start (approx. 2 hours)
• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam and general competency exam within 12 months of start
• Color blindness testing within 12 months of start (required for starts on/after 1/16/24)

Additional Notes

• Locals within 75 miles are accepted and preferred
• This is a mandatory float facility; nurses must be flexible to float to different units as needed
• No block scheduling available
• References and employment application required per state and agency standards
