Pediatric OR Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract) - Nebraska, Omaha

Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse
  • Setting: 12-bed Pediatric Operating Room
  • Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
  • Hours per week: 36
  • Contract length: 13 weeks
  • Employment type: Travel/Contract
  • Additional duties: Off-shift rotation and on-call required

Required Qualifications

  • License: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Nebraska
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only, as applicable
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only, as applicable
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - as applicable
  • Competencies:
    • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (minimum 80% if working in NICU)
    • Unit competency exam
    • Color blind testing (required for all candidates)
  • Background Checks:
    • 7-year criminal background check updated annually, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
    • Education verification (transcript or diploma acceptable)
    • State-specific registry search (Nebraska DHHS Adult & Child Services Registry) within 30 days of start
  • Health Requirements:
    • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, performed by MD, DO, PA, NP, or APRN
    • Fit mask test within 12 months prior to start
    • Immunizations/vaccinations:
      • Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) vaccine required
      • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, and Rubella; boosters required if titers low or equivocal
      • Hepatitis B: Positive titer or completed vaccine series required; no declinations allowed except approved medical or religious exemptions
      • Varicella: 2 vaccines, positive titer, or history of disease; boosters if titers low or equivocal
      • Annual seasonal flu vaccine required starting 10/1/2025, or approved medical/religious exemption
    • Negative TB test (Qgold, Tspot, or 2-step PPD) within 12 months prior to start, updated annually; if positive, additional TB questionnaire and chest X-ray required
    • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test including THC within 12 months prior to start; instant tests accepted; must be current for assignment duration
  • References: Two professional references within 2 years of start date
  • Skills Checklist: Must be updated annually

  • Government-issued photo ID required (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Facility-specific forms and processes must be completed prior to start, including a Cognito form completed by both candidate and clinical leadership at least 6 business days before start date
