Outpatient Surgery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Specialty: Surgical Specialty Clinic RN
- Focus areas: Oncology, vascular, interventional radiology, genetics
- Responsibilities include pre/post-op appointments and minor in-office bedside procedures
- Float within scope between like units as needed
- Shift: Monday-Friday, Days, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (5x8 hour shifts)
- No weekends or on-call required
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Carolina
- Minimum 1 year of outpatient surgery experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience working in an outpatient setting
Facility & Work Environment
- Multi-specialty outpatient building with 25+ specialties
- Approximately 50 staffed beds
- Charting system: Epic
- Scrub color: Royal Blue
- Free on-site parking available
- Local radius: 60 miles
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
- Background check within 1 year covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Physical exam within 90 days prior to start, confirming good health and ability to work without restrictions
- Fit test for N95 mask (specific models required), valid within 90 days and renewed annually
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Tdap within 10 years or declination form
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer; declination accepted for Mumps and Rubella only
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
- Varicella vaccination, documented history, or declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
- Drug screening: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days prior to start
- COVID vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
- Radiation badge required if assigned to units with radiation exposure (process may take 5-7 days before starting floor work)
Orientation & Training
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules within 5 days of start
- Photo for badge required prior to start (specific photo requirements apply)
- Skills checklist and competency exams required
Additional Notes
- Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June-November), especially peak months August and September
- Locals may be considered on a case-by-case basis
- Return-to-Office (RTO) restrictions must be submitted with application and are subject to facility approval
