Step Down RN Travel Contract

Overview

• Location: Roanoke, Virginia
• Employment type: Travel/Contract
• Shift: Day, 4x12 hours, 6:45 AM–7:15 PM
• Hours per week: 48
• Contract length: 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Virginia
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
• ACLS
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Ventilator experience (chronic trach and vent patients)
• Experience with Epic

Schedule and Assignment Details

• May be scheduled every other weekend or for 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week block
• Must work one holiday during the contract
• Floating is required within skillset
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Local candidates are accepted

Unit Details

• General medicine PCU / stepdown setting
• Hybrid unit with PCU and ICU beds
• Typical patient ratio is 1:5, with a goal of 1:4
• Common patient populations include DKA, COPD, sepsis, suicide/overdose, chronic respiratory failure, and renal failure

Clinical Skills

• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
• Emergency response and rapid response/code team activation
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
• Medication administration, including cardiac drips without titration
• Respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Isolation precautions and telemetry settings across PCU, DOU, IMC, and stepdown units

Compliance and Onboarding

• Drivers license or state ID required within 48 hours of signing
• E-Verify or attestation required
• 2 clinical references required
• Complete application/resume required
• Skills checklist required
• Background check, education verification, and health screening documents are required before start
