Location: Auburn, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (4 shifts per week, 10 hours each, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 40
Job Description
Surgical Technologist (CST) role supporting various surgical procedures including:
- Tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy
- Appendectomy
- Cholecystectomy
- Colon resection (Open/Laparoscopic)
- Hernia repair (inguinal/umbilical)
- Thyroidectomy (partial/total)
- Abdominal and vaginal hysterectomy
- Anterior/posterior repair (colporrhaphy)
- Bilateral tubal ligation
- Dilation & curettage
- Arthroscopy
- Closed/open reduction of fractures
- Total hip and knee replacement
- Gynecologic robotic surgery
- Cystoscopy
- Nephrectomy
- Prostatectomy
- Transurethral resection of the prostate
Local travelers may be considered at a lower rate.
Start date: ASAP
Required Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with a minimum of 1 year of recent experience.
- Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or NBSTSA certification required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Experience supporting surgical procedures including:
- Tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy
- Appendectomy
- Colon resection (Open/Laparoscopic)
- Hernia repair (inguinal/umbilical)
- Thyroidectomy (partial/total)
- Anterior/posterior repair (colporrhaphy)
- Bilateral tubal ligation
- Dilation & curettage
- Vaginal hysterectomy
- Arthroscopy
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Unexpired government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Background check within 1 year covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to start.
- National certification verification prior to start and upon expiration.
- Facility-specific documents including:
- Code of Conduct
- Patient Abuse Reporting
- Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement
- Orientation Packet Acknowledgement
- Automated Dispensing Cabinet Security (for Pyxis access)
- Annual Tuberculosis Screening Questionnaire (updated annually)
- Physical exam completed within 12 months prior to start, signed by licensed provider.
- Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually (approved mask types specified).
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within last 10 years or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella immunity (2 MMR vaccines or serologic titers)
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
- Varicella immunity (2 vaccines, positive titer, or documented history)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season
- COVID vaccine records or declination
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, opiates, cocaine, methadone included).
- Two professional references within 3 years.
- Skills checklist required.
- New York State Nurse Aide Registry verification required.
- New York State Medicaid Exclusion List check required.
Additional Notes
- This is a travel/contract position with a 13-week duration.
- Day shift schedule with 4 shifts per week, each 10 hours long.
- Recent experience in surgical services is mandatory.
- Candidates must be prepared for a comprehensive credentialing and compliance process prior to start.
