- Winston Salem, North Carolina
Contract
- Travel/contract assignment
- 13 weeks
- Day shift, 3x12 hours
- 36 hours per week
- Floating required as needed to a sister unit
- Every other weekend required
Unit Overview
- ICU stepdown / PCU setting that runs more like an ICU
- Patient population includes adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
- Target ratio: 1:3–4
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIHSS
- Experience with arterial lines and titrating vasoactive drips
- Experience with telemetry and interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Experience with management of dysrhythmias
- Experience with Rapid Response Teams
- Experience with IV insulin protocols
- Experience with blood product administration
- Experience with central line care and management
- Experience with PICC line management
- Experience with heparin protocols
- Experience with CVA care
Unit Details
- Bedside telemetry monitors with remote backup
- No vents on the unit
- Only one pressor drip per patient on the unit; additional pressors require transfer to ICU
- Common drips used on the unit include Cardizem, Nitro, Precedex, Cardene, Levophed, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Neo
Scheduling / Work Expectations
- No block scheduling
- Hospital orientation occurs during the first week, and the traveler must be available for classes each day
- RTO after booking is not allowed; additional RTO or call-offs may result in cancellation and DNR
Additional Notes
- Navy, white, or a combination of the two scrubs are allowed
