Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist - NICU (Travel/Contract)

Work Schedule

• Night shift: 4x12 hour shifts (17:00 to 7:30)
• Option to work alternating 3x12s and 4x12s every other week, or straight 4x12s
• Weekend coverage every other weekend
• Float responsibilities across multiple units including CCU, ICU, NICU, ED, Med-Surg, and Recovery based on staffing needs

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Louisiana
• Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one travel assignment
• Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license
• Required certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID matching all documentation
• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including social security trace, nationwide and federal checks; must be updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel or expanded panel depending on hire date)
• Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days
• Skills checklist updated within 12 months of start and annually
• Competency exams (Medication/Pharmacology, Dysrhythmia/EKG, Core Parts I-III) required within 12 months of start and updated annually
• State license verification and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
• Employee appearance policy acknowledgment
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption/declination required annually (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
• Immunization requirements:

  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declinations accepted with proper form)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per protocol
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if titer low
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination within 12 months of start
  • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if titer low

Additional Notes

• Floating across multiple units is expected based on daily staffing needs
• Must maintain all certifications and competencies as required by the facility
• Candidates must be prepared for a fast-paced acute care environment including NICU and other critical care units

This position is ideal for experienced respiratory therapists with neonatal intensive care experience who have prior travel contract experience and are comfortable working varied shifts and floating across multiple acute care units.
