Registered Nurse - Telemetry Unit
Location: Hazard, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work on a Medical-Surgical / Telemetry unit with short stay and observation patients.
- Nurse-to-patient ratio typically 1:6 or 1:7.
- Must have 2 years of recent Telemetry experience.
- Float within scope of practice required.
- Work schedule includes every other weekend.
- Blocked scheduling cannot be accommodated.
- Schedule follows a 36/48 hour rotation over two weeks.
- Orientation occurs bi-weekly.
- Must reside within 75 miles of the facility.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Kentucky.
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Minimum of 2 years of Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
Certifications & Competencies
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA Instructor/Provider/RQI
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - AHA Instructor/Provider/RQI
- NIH Stroke Certification (updated per regulations)
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required annually, except for Psych, OR, Rehab, and true Med Surg units)
- Core Competency Exams (Parts I, II, III)
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
Health & Background Requirements
- Annual physical exam or physician note stating clearance to work without restrictions.
- Negative TB test (QuantiFERON blood test within 1 year; T-Spot/PPD not accepted).
- Immunizations or proof of immunity for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (valid within 10 years)
- Drug testing within 30 days of start (specific panel required).
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption.
- Background checks including national and county searches, sex offender registry, and others as required.
- Employment history verification covering 7 years.
- Two professional references within 1 year of start date (one must be a supervisor).
Additional Notes
- Float pool duties required within scope of practice.
- Must be able to work every other weekend.
- Blocked scheduling is not available.
- Candidates must submit only to one job at a time.
- Assignment confirmation required within 24 hours of offer acceptance.
