Job Opportunity: Critical Care Float Pool Registered Nurse
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
Join the Critical Care Float Pool working weekend night shifts (3x12 hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, approximately 36 hours/week). Flexibility is required to float across various ICUs based on staffing and patient acuity, including:
- Neuro ICU
- Surgical ICUs
- Medical ICUs (MICU x2)
- Cardiology/Diagnostics
- CVICU
- SICU / MICU / NCCU
Float Policy:
Nurses must float within units of equivalent or lower acuity.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
- Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Cardiology experience
Licensure
- Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Ohio
Additional Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check (including FBI and BCI fingerprinting) completed within 90 days of start
- Education verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA accredited)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
- Required immunizations and/or titers:
- Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis)
- TB test or chest x-ray (if positive) within 1 year
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B titer or vaccine series (declination acceptable)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
- Annual completion of Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training
- Completion of unit-specific competency exams including:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (updated annually)
- Two professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leader)
Work Environment & Schedule
- Weekend night shifts (Friday/Saturday and additional days as needed)
- Floating across multiple ICU units with varying acuity levels
- Shift hours: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (12-hour shifts)

Summary
This is a travel contract opportunity for experienced ICU Registered Nurses with strong critical care skills, flexibility to float across multiple ICU units, and required certifications including BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
