Job Opportunity: Critical Care Float Pool Registered Nurse

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

Join the Critical Care Float Pool working weekend night shifts (3x12 hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, approximately 36 hours/week). Flexibility is required to float across various ICUs based on staffing and patient acuity, including:

  • Neuro ICU
  • Surgical ICUs
  • Medical ICUs (MICU x2)
  • Cardiology/Diagnostics
  • CVICU
  • SICU / MICU / NCCU

Float Policy:
Nurses must float within units of equivalent or lower acuity.


Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
  • Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Cardiology experience

Licensure

  • Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Ohio

Additional Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check (including FBI and BCI fingerprinting) completed within 90 days of start
  • Education verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA accredited)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Required immunizations and/or titers:
    • Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis)
    • TB test or chest x-ray (if positive) within 1 year
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B titer or vaccine series (declination acceptable)
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • Annual completion of Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training
  • Completion of unit-specific competency exams including:
    • Medication/Pharmacology competency
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (updated annually)
  • Two professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leader)

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Weekend night shifts (Friday/Saturday and additional days as needed)
  • Floating across multiple ICU units with varying acuity levels
  • Shift hours: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (12-hour shifts)
