Job Opportunity: Certified OR Tech / Surgical Tech (CST)

Location: Ephrata, Pennsylvania
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Support a wide range of surgical procedures including Robotics, General, Orthopedic, Spine, Urology, and Gynecological surgeries.
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 1:00 PM to 11:30 PM.
• May be asked to float to other units as needed.
• Weekend, call, and holiday coverage as needed.
• May care for COVID-19 patients.
• Tobacco and fragrance-free facility.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of experience, including experience within the last year.
• Certification by NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting).
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system.

Required Licenses & Certifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist license/certification (implied by job title and specialty).
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted).
• Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC may be required depending on unit (refer to job/unit specifics).

Background & Compliance Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check required within 30 days of start; updated annually.
• Pennsylvania State Police PATCH (criminal history) search required within 1 year of start; must be finalized prior to start.
• PA FBI Fingerprinting required within 1 year of start; candidate may start with results pending but must be finalized within 45 days.
• Employment verification, education verification, and professional references required.
• Drug testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen required within 1 year of start (Aya requirement).
• E-Verify and other federal background checks (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG) required within 30 days of start.

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 90 days of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or NPT.
• Immunizations/vaccinations required:

  • TDAP (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test (QGold or TSpot) within 90 days of start (PPD not accepted)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required; boosters required if titers negative or equivocal.
  • Hepatitis B: Positive titer or full vaccine series (3 doses) required or declination form.
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required; boosters required if titers negative or equivocal.
  • Seasonal Flu vaccine required during flu season; declinations not accepted unless valid medical or religious exemption on file.
  • COVID-19 vaccine or approved exemption/declination accepted.
• Respiratory Safety clearance required within 1 year of start; renew annually.

Additional Requirements

• Photo for badge: professional, passport-style photo required.
• Completion of facility-specific documents including Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, Commitment to Health & Wellness, and Non-Employee Affidavit.
• Completion of online Learning Management System (LMS) modules prior to start.
• Two professional references required within 3 years of start.
• Skills checklist and competency exams as applicable.

Time Off & Other Details

• Return to Office (RTO) maximum 7 days.
• Floating, weekend, call, and holiday shifts as needed.

This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic surgical environment with a variety of procedures and requires a certified surgical technologist with solid experience and certifications.
