Location: Augusta, Georgia

Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Summary
- Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
- Float required to all Medical-Surgical (MS), MS Telemetry, and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) units within the hospital
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio:
- PCU: 1:4-5
- MS/MS Telemetry: 1:5-6
- Unit systems used: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
- Return to Orientation (RTO) required within 7 days
- Weekend shifts: Every other weekend (approximately 6 weekends in a 13-week contract)
- Floating required
- Call: None
- Holiday work expectations:
- If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it
- If 2 major holidays fall, expected to work both
- If 3 major holidays fall, expected to work 2 of them
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day
- Compliance with orientation and credentialing required to start on time
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Experience in Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) nursing
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Work Environment & Additional Information
- Floating across multiple units required
- No call responsibilities
- Orientation hours vary based on contract length
- Return to Orientation blackout dates during Spring Break (April 4-12)
- Locals accepted at same rate
- Full compliance with all credentialing and orientation requirements mandatory to avoid start delays
Prior Travel Experience
- Not explicitly required; 1st time travelers accepted
This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of experience who is comfortable floating across PCU and Medical-Surgical units, working with adult to geriatric patients, and meeting multiple certification and competency requirements.
