Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – CVICU
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day/Night, 12-hour shifts
- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Schedule: Every other weekend, some holidays, no on-call required
- Start Dates: Multiple start dates available in April and May 2026
Required Experience & Skills
- Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) experience required
- Experience and knowledge of NextStage CVVH machine required
- Experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable area preferred
- Basic Arrhythmia experience required
- Must pass Telemetry test prior to start
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
Testing & Competency Requirements
- Telemetry pass/fail testing required before start
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Annual skills checklist required
- Pass/Fail testing for EKG/Medication with remediation process if needed
Compliance & Background Checks
- Background check within 90 days prior to start, including nationwide and sex offender searches
- Monthly monitoring through workforce monitoring systems
- Wisconsin Caregiver Screening within 90 days of start (state-mandated)
- Education verification as applicable
- Drug screening required to meet standard (not required annually)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam (must meet agency standard)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility guidelines
- Immunizations or documented immunity for:
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
- Varicella (chickenpox)
- Hepatitis B (vaccination series or declination form)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (annual)
- Meningococcal vaccine or declination (if applicable)
Additional Requirements
- Photo for badge (passport-style, no selfies or headwear except religious/medical)
- Signed acknowledgment of safety manual and pass/fail testing policies
- Completion of facility-specific forms including communicable disease and caregiver screening forms
- References: Two clinical references within the last 3 years (agency standard)

Requirements / Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
- Minimum of 1 year of Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Experience and knowledge of the NextStage CVVH machine
- National Tech Certification Verification
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing policies
- Pass/Fail Testing for EKG and Medication competency
Notes
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
- Candidates must be prepared to complete all required testing and documentation prior to start.
- Remediation courses and multiple attempts allowed for Telemetry and related competency exams, with contract cancellation after three failed attempts.
