Job Description
- Work in a 74-bed Emergency Department (ED) at a Level 1 Trauma Center with a Comprehensive Stroke Center and Chest Pain Accredited Center of Excellence.
- ED includes a 3-bed trauma bay and a secure behavioral health unit.
- May float to a 22-bed Emergency Transitional Care Unit (ETCU) with telemetry capability and negative pressure rooms.
- ETCU serves as a staging area for patients awaiting further testing, consultation, or inpatient beds.
- Provide inpatient-level care to holds in ETCU; med/surg nurses cross-trained for ED tasks.
- Schedule: Evening shift (3:00 PM - 3:00 AM), 3 shifts per week, 12 hours per shift.
- Weekend requirement: Every 3rd weekend.
- Holidays and floating as needed.
- No call requirements.
- Blocked schedules are not approved.
- May care for COVID-19 patients.
- Tobacco and fragrance-free facility.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Pennsylvania.
- Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients.
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Certifications required:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including:
- 7-year criminal background check (must be current within 30 days of start)
- Pennsylvania State Police PATCH search (must be finalized prior to start)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (within 30 days of start)
- PA FBI fingerprinting (required within 1 year of start; candidate may start with results pending but must be finalized within 45 days)
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse Search (must be completed within 5 years; candidate may start with results pending but must be finalized within 45 days)
- Education verification of highest degree/diploma/transcripts.
- Two professional references within 3 years.
- Most recent resume or employment application.
- Annual skills checklist.
- Photo for badge: passport-style, clear, professional.
- Completion of facility-required documents including:
- Medical Statement of Ability to Work (signed by MD, DO, PA, or NPT within 90 days of start)
- Commitment to Health & Wellness
- Code of Conduct
- Confidentiality Agreement
- Non-Employee Affidavit
- I9 Attestation and Documentation Attestation (agency completed)
- Completion of Learning Management System (LMS) modules on PC/laptop prior to start.
- New Hire Orientation required by end of first day.
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 90 days of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or NPT.
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSpot) within 90 days; PPD not accepted. For positive TB, negative chest X-ray within 1 year and annual TB questionnaire required.
- Vaccinations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles) - 2 doses or positive titer
- Mumps - 2 doses or positive titer
- Rubella - 2 doses or positive titer
- Varicella - 2 doses or positive titer
- Hepatitis B - positive titer or full vaccine series (3 doses) plus declination form if applicable
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years of start.
- Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season or valid medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted).
- COVID-19 vaccine or valid medical/religious exemption or declination.
- Respiratory Safety Clearance required within 1 year of start; renew annually.
- Fit testing preferred but not required.
- Negative 9-panel drug test within 1 year (agency requirement only).
Competency Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (pass/fail) required for all RNs except OR and Home Health.
- Acknowledgement of pass/fail testing required for all RNs except OR and Home Health.
Additional Information
- Return to Office (RTO) maximum 7 days.
- Tobacco and fragrance-free environment; candidates must be notified prior to submission.
- Local rate is below posted bill rate (pay details excluded as per instructions).

Cons
Sometimes the schedule can be confusing with rotating shifts and call schedules that don’t align well with your scheduled shifts. But again if there is a major concern they’ll try and work with you on it!
