Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
- Call Requirements: None
- Time Off (RTO): Maximum 5 days off, no more than 2 consecutive days; no time off allowed on or around holidays or weekends
- Floating: Mandatory float within scope of practice as needed
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with high-risk patients in Labor and Delivery
- Certifications required:
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- AWHONN Intermediate
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Proficiency in Electronic Fetal Monitoring
- Education: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Additional Information
- Local Candidates: Accepted and preferred within a 75-mile radius
- Charting System: Cerner
- Facility Type: Level 1 Trauma Center
- Scrub Color: Any color allowed
Required Health and Compliance Documents
- Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months, updated annually
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination within 12 months
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination within 1 year
- Varicella, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer with boosters if low titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually
- Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year, with exemptions allowed for medical/religious reasons
Background and Verification Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID
- Background check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Education verification (if applicable)
- Illinois Health Care Worker Registry search not required for RNs
- Other state-specific and facility-specific compliance forms as required
Competency Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (required within 12 months of start)
- Color blindness testing (required within 12 months of start)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (preferred for ER RNs, not mandatory for L&D)
