Registered Nurse (RN) - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Overview

• 13-week contract
• 25-bed unit
• Must float across all campuses listed in the source
• No locals; candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility
• Not open to first-time travelers; must have completed at least one travel assignment in the previous 12 months

Patient Care Setting

• Heavy neuro trauma, neurosurgery, craniectomy, and ortho patient population
• RN ratio: 1:5–6
• Drips used: Heparin, PCA, and 3% Na
• Specialty equipment includes telemetry, chest tubes, and Airvo
• Scrubs: Navy Blue

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Iowa
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment in the previous 12 months
• Experience in an acute care setting
• Med Surg experience
• Experience working with neuro trauma patients
• Neurosurgery experience
• Orthopedics experience
• Experience with cardiac drips, including Heparin, PCA, and 3% Sodium/Na
• EKG / strip reading and measuring / telemetry experience
• Experience with Epic
• Driver's License
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Preferred Qualifications

• Trauma care experience
• Trauma Level I experience
• De-escalation certificate; CPI, MOAB, MAB, or SAMA accepted
• NIHSS, which can be obtained during onboarding

Scheduling / Holiday Expectations

• Required to work 1–2 of 3 upcoming winter holidays unless the unit is closed
• NBO: 16 hours
